GBTA OREGON COMMITTEES
COMMITTEE PARTICIPATION OPPORTUNITIES
GBTA-Oregon Chapter needs the involvement of all its members in shaping its course and directing its activities. Listed below are the standing committees of the Association. Please review the description of each committee’s function and indicate those in which you have an interest or related experience. If you have served on one committee more than twice, consider selecting another committee to broaden experience and exchange ideas. If you have any questions regarding these committees, please contact the Committee Chairs by phone or email.
Education Committee
Oversees the Association’s efforts to provide educational opportunities for its membership. Responsible for securing keynote speakers, and all arrangements for general membership monthly educational meetings and special events (including Education Day).
Membership committee
Provides staffing and special services for Association events, greeting members, helping with registration, etc. Assist with the preparation of name badges from the registration roster prior to the meeting, ensure each new member is personally welcomed by the board and introduced at meetings, arrange and hand out welcome packets to new members. Assist with coordinating activities at the meeting registration table while being available to greet members/guests as they arrive, help facilitate peer networking during meetings, assist with membership calls.
Technology committee
The Technology Committee maintains GBTA Oregon’s web site and advises the Board of Directors on technology-related topics. The objective of this committee is to be the catalyst to the Board of Directors for updates to the website content. Investing time to attend StarChapter Training.
Government relations committee
GBTA advocates for policies that improve the business travel industry, representing corporate travel buyers and travel suppliers. Committee members will assist GBTA Oregon and the Director of Government Relations to support the legislative initiatives of GBTA and to share information and activate initiatives in informing members of the current legislation affecting corporate travel.
Special Events Committee
The Special Events Committee is looking for individuals who are interested in creating new initiatives and organizing events for GBTA Oregon Members. These projects include but are not limited to Monthly Educational Luncheons, Connects, Education Day, Joint Meetings with MPI/SGMP, Holiday Gala. Volunteers will assist in planning, finding venues and carrying out duties the day of the project/event.
Scholarship committee
The Scholarship Committee is responsible for assisting our members with various scholarship opportunities. GBTA Oregon is proud to support our memberships continuing education through scholarships each year and the Scholarship Committee helps organize and distribute the awarded scholarships.
Communications committee
The Communications Committee for GBTA Oregon Chapter is comprised of the areas of Marketing, Content Creation & Social Media. The objective of this Committee is to keep the public and all relevant media outlets informed of pertinent association information, communicate appropriate and educational information to members via social media outlets, create brand awareness for the association and promote all GBTA Oregon Chapter events throughout the year.
Finance committee
Assists Treasurer in their duties and adds a second security level to fiduciary responsibilities of Chapter.
Sponsorship committee
This committee is responsible for working with direct and supplier members to create sponsorship opportunities that will allow them additional exposure to our targeted audience and also give GBTA Oregon additional resources to support our overall goals.
ESG Committee
To promote awareness of the many issues facing travelers and coworkers in the workplace, or while traveling, attending meetings or handling travel needs. The committee will provide resources, education and support to enable the travel industry to embrace and drive diversity, equity and inclusion within our organizations.
